Rice Bran Wax is a hard, crystalline, high melting vegetable wax obtained from rice husks. It consists of very long chain saturated C46-C62 esters from C20-C36 fatty alcohols and C20-C26 fatty acids. Rice Bran Wax functions as a consistency component in sticks and emulsions (W/O- and O/W). It helps to thicken the formulation by providing a rigid structural network of wax crystals, improving oil binding, emolliency, film formation and lubricity. In sticks Rice Bran Wax contributes to hardness, texture, strength and mould release. Rice Bran Wax can be used a (partial) substitute for carnauba and candelilla wax in many formulations. Rice Bran Wax has very strong oil gelling properties and relatively small wax concentrations are necessary.

Character: rice bran wax is hard and fine crystal, light yellow white to light brown solid, with a slight smell of rice, melting point of 60~85 ℃. Soluble in chloroform, benzene, ethane, ether, glycerin, insoluble in ethanol, insoluble in water.

Performance: rice bran wax has certain elasticity, can be used as chewing aid of gum sugar base, and can be used as coating agent, moisture-proof agent, bread and other release agent due to its moisture-proof property.

Toxicity: It can be safely used in food.

Production process of rice bran wax

Rice bran wax is edible and can serve as a substitute for carnauba wax in most applications due to its relatively high melting point. It is used in paper coatings, textiles, explosives, fruit & vegetable coatings, confectionery, pharmaceuticals, candles, moulded novelties, electric insulation, textile and leather sizing, waterproofing, carbon paper, typewriter ribbons, printing inks, lubricants, crayons, adhesives, chewing gum and cosmetics.

In cosmetics, rice bran wax is used as an emollient, and is the basis material for some exfoliation particles. It has been observed that rice bran wax at concentrations as low as 1 wt% in triglycerides can crystallize to form stable gels.
